LAPT has spent twenty-five years deciding what competence means in an industry. Covid took the rooms away, the partner network demanded technology, and six years later LAPTech builds the software those same industries run on.

The left-hand side is LAPT: centres, assessors, examinations, certificates. The right-hand side is LAPTech, and it starts later because it was forced to — 2020 is where the two tracks meet, and everything on the right after that was built for industries already on the left.
Incorporated as Harrow College Ltd, to bridge academic education and real employment through independent, industry-specific certification.
Harrow College Ltd becomes the London Academy of Professional Training, and opens in Dubai.
Karamah Training Centre in Sharjah — the beginning of a network that now passes 500 centres.
Digital tools are brought into the way assessments are delivered. The first software LAPT depends on rather than buys.
Examinations become deliverable at secure test centres worldwide, which is what makes the certification portable.
A learning management system and an online examination platform, built because a network of that size across that many countries could not be run on anything that existed. This is where LAPTech starts.
The Dubai Land Department — an institution buying the standard, not just a training provider.
Training centres cannot open. A network built on people in rooms has no rooms. LAPT was already in B2B partnerships across a dozen industries — and without technology, every one of those relationships had nothing to run on.
This is the turn. The demand for technology came from the partner network itself, not from an idea in a boardroom: without IT solutions through Covid the whole LAPT network was dead. That is what made IT an industry worth entering rather than a cost worth carrying.
Six years of building SaaS for the very industries LAPT was already providing assessment and certification to — aviation, beauty, culinary, hospitality, retail, petcare. Not new markets to learn, but industries whose standards we had spent years writing.
The whole thing rewritten as a single system — 47 modules and 407 data models — with communication, billing, learning and certification writing to the same record.
It took six years from that compulsion to stand in IT solutions where LAPTech is today: a technology company selling to industries, not a certification body with software attached.
Covid is the honest answer. A network built on people in rooms lost its rooms, and the demand for technology came from the partner network itself — without IT solutions through those years the whole LAPT network was dead. That is what turned IT from a cost into an industry worth entering.
From 2020 to 2026 the software was built for the industries LAPT was already assessing and certifying. Not new markets to go and learn — aviation, beauty, culinary, hospitality, retail, petcare, the same sectors whose standards we had spent years writing.
Most software companies begin with technology and go looking for a problem. LAPTech began with twenty-five years of the problem, and six years of being forced to solve it.
